The Keep is published by The Keep Media at thekeepweekly.com. This page describes what information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to describe what this site actually does rather than to cover every practice a website might have — if something is not mentioned here, we are not doing it.

The short version

We do not ask you for personal information, we have no accounts or logins, comments are switched off across the whole site, and we do not sell or share data with anyone for marketing. What we do collect is standard website analytics, so we can see which articles people actually read.

What is collected

Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are located, what device and browser they use, and how they arrived. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies set by Google. We see it in aggregate; it is not used to identify you personally, and we do not attempt to.

Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard technical information for every request — IP address, browser user agent, the page requested, and a timestamp. This is ordinary web-server operation and is used for security and troubleshooting.

Nothing else. There is no contact form, no account system, no comment system, and no newsletter list currently collecting addresses. If you email us, we obviously have your email address and whatever you wrote, and we use it only to reply.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. The ones this site uses are set by Google Analytics for the purposes above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will continue to work normally if you do. Google publishes its own explanation of how it uses data from sites that use its services, and offers a browser add-on for opting out of Google Analytics.

Advertising

The Keep does not currently display advertising. We have applied to Google AdSense, and if and when ads begin running, third-party advertising cookies will be introduced and this page will be updated before that happens to say so plainly.

Who we share information with

Two service providers, in the ordinary course of running a website: Google, for analytics, and Hostinger, our hosting provider. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else for their own marketing purposes.

How long it is kept

Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ own retention settings. Server logs are kept by our host on their standard schedule. Email you send us is kept as long as it is useful for the conversation.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to request a copy, to request deletion, or to object to certain processing. Residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have these rights under the GDPR; California residents have comparable rights under the CCPA and CPRA.

To make a request, email info@thekeepweekly.com. In practice the honest answer is usually that we hold very little — we have no account records, and analytics data is not linked to your identity — but we will tell you what we have and act on a deletion request.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this page

If our practices change — most likely when advertising begins — we will update this page and change the date at the top.
